I was raised by stray dogs since I was 3 — they taught me to bark and walk on all fours

This is the story of Oxana Malaya. Neglected by her alcoholic parents, she sought refuge in a shed with wild dogs from ages 3 to 8.

Oxana Malaya is a Ukrainian woman known for being one of the most well-documented cases of a feral child. Born in 1983, she was discovered at the age of eight living with dogs in the village of Novaya Blagoveschenka. According to reports, Oxana was neglected by her alcoholic parents and, as a result, spent much of her early life living in a kennel with dogs. This lack of human contact during her formative years led her to adopt canine behavior, such as barking, walking on all fours, and other dog-like actions.

When she was discovered, Oxana was placed in a children’s home and received years of therapy and education to help her reintegrate into society. While she made progress, the severe neglect she experienced had lasting effects on her cognitive and emotional development. Oxana’s case has been widely studied in psychology and child development as an extreme example of the impact of early childhood neglect and the importance of human socialization.

As of the last known reports, Oxana Malaya lives in a care facility for people with special needs and works on a farm caring for animals.
