TIMB officials arrested for fraudulent US$494,873 loan

HARARE — The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Patrick Devenish, Board Chairperson of the Tobacco Industry Marketing Board (TIMB), and its former Chief Executive Officer, Meanwell Gudu, on charges of fraud involving US$494,873.

Devenish and Gudu appeared at the Harare Magistrate’s Court and were remanded in custody.

The two are accused of fraudulently advancing a loan to Ultime Accolade Private Limited in May 2021 without the knowledge or approval of other TIMB Board members.
