MASVINGO -A private motor vehicle carrying family members was involved in a horrific road accident occurred yesterday at 1730hrs on the 122km peg, along the Chivhu-Mvuma highway.
Masvingo province police Deputy Spokesperson Inspector Masauso Patinyu said that Hosiah Chirinda (52) of Hatfield, Harare, was driving a Toyota Noah with seven passengers, all family members, towards Royi when the vehicle veered off the road and overturned seven times before landing on its wheels.Eustina Marovi (43) sustained serious injuries and died while still a at the scene of the accident.
The remaining seven passengers suffered various degrees of injuries and were transported to Gutu General Hospital for treatment.The vehicle was extensively damaged in the crash. The body of the deceased was taken to Gutu General Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Assistant Inspector Patinyu urged the public to exercise extreme caution when driving and to adhere to all traffic regulations to avoid such tragic incidents.
