Amoured cables stolen at Muchena irrigation scheme

In a country grappling with unemployment and drug abuse, the rate of ZESA Amoured cable theft has increased among youths, recently.

Masvingo Province Zimbabwe Republic Police Deputy Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, the accused were Munyaradzi Mutambi (18), Moses Mutambi, and Aaron Mutambi from Temura Village under Chief Nhema.

The informant, Mutema Muchado (72), a security guard at the scheme, noticed the stolen cables during his perimeter check.

Muchado and the scheme’s owner followed the footprints, leading them to the accused’s homestead and resulting in their arrest.

The three accused admitted to the crime and revealed that they intended to surrender the cables to a parked vehicle 100 meters away, leading to the arrest of three additional suspects found in the car: Timothy Tazira (32), Themba Azira (28), and Tarisai Dzitira (27) from Mugandani Street, Tovani in Chiredzi.

Assistant Inspector Patinyu urged citizens not to engage in ZESA cable theft, as it deteriorates the country’s economy.
