
Tragedy struck on yesterday when Panashe Dube, a member of the renowned Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Mbungo Brass Band, drowned while celebrating his 25th birthday at Hippo Creek resort.Panashe, the youngest of two siblings, was born into a close-knit family residing in Mutare. His older brother, Munashe Dube, and their family are still reeling from the shock of his untimely death.
According to Masvingo Province police deputy spokesperson, Masauso Patinyu, Panashe had arrived at the scenic venue with his two friends, Tapiwa Mangwiro and Charity Mugabe, eager to mark a quarter-century of life. However, fate had other plans.While swimming in the pool at the resort center, Panashe struggled and slipped beneath the surface. Despite valiant efforts by his friends, the manager, Takudzwa Chibhanguza, and workers to perform first aid, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Masvingo Provincial Hospital.
Panashe’s passion for music was evident in his dedication to the ZCC Mbungo Brass Band, where he was a beloved member. His tragic passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him, and his community is still grappling with the loss.As the family and friends of Panashe Dube come to terms with their loss, they remember a young man whose life was cut short in the prime of his youth, with so much promise and potential yet to be fulfilled.
